The Geer Planetarium is the only community college planetarium in the state. It named for Dr. Willard Geer, an inspiring and dedicated teacher at BCC from 1968 - 1975 who was responsible for building the planetarium and obtaining the first star projector. All astronomy 100 classes meet inside the planetarium. The 30-foot dome seats 60. |

The Digistar 3 projector can accurately reproduce the night sky any time of the year or night at any location within 900 light years of the Sun. It can show the stars position in three dimensions, and allow realistic journeys through space. The motions of the Sun, Moon, and Naked-Eye planets can also be demonstrated. All Astronomy 101 classes include some constellation/star identification. |

BC also
has a rooftop observatory, and a battery of small telescopes. The
15-foot dome houses our Meade 16” Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, with
computerized drive.
