The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges instituted a system of common course titles and numbers for the Community and Technical Colleges in the state of Washington, effective summer 2008. Courses that have an "&" following the course abbreviation (such as Biol& 100) are intended to be transferable as the "same" course between all Community and Technical Colleges in the state of Washington. Several additional course number changes were required at most colleges to prevent different courses from having the same course number as the mandated common numbers. Students must look carefully at course descriptions prior to registration to be sure they are not taking a course that they have previously taken with the pre-summer 2008 course number. Note, too, that the Baccalaureate Institutions do not have the common course numbering requirement. Students planning to transfer credits to a Baccalaureate institution should contact that institution for course equivalencies. A table of the Life Science classes showing course titles and numbers at Bellevue Community College as of summer 2008 follows. Course numbers prior to the implementation of the CCN project are shown along with the CCN mandated numbers.
