Biographies
- John de Graaf has been
writing and producing award-winning television programs for several decades.
In addition to Affluenza and Escape from Affluenza, he has also
produced Running Out of Time, For Earth's Sake: The Life and Times
of David Brower, Circle of Plenty, Green Plans, and Genetic
Time Bomb, among many others.
- Blair Henry.is an attorney
and President of The Northwest Council on Climate Change (www.nwclimate.org).
Since 1996, The Council has been a Seattle based organization of experts in
climate science, public health, air quality, clean energy - all committed
to creating a comprehensive response to climate change. Mr. Henry will speak
on the scientific evidence and causes of global warming as well as the politics
and the solutions.
- Dr. Phillip Levin, Program
Director of the Fisheries Resource Analysis and Monitoring Division at the
National Marine Fisheries Service (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association),
will be speaking on issues of biodiversity.
- Northwest Animal Rights Network (NARN),
the largest grassroots animal activists group in the Pacific NW, will be speaking
about factory farming and animal testing. Founded in 1986, it has grown to
over 400 members. NARN promotes equal consideration of Pacific NW animals.

- Dr. Gordon Orians is a
renowned ecologist who has contributed to our understanding of everything
from old growth forests to human evolution. He is an emeritus professor of
zoology and the former Director of the Institute of Environmental Studies
at the University of Washington, and a member of the National Academy of Science.
- Sandy Rock, MD is the President
of Interpretive Consultations, Inc., a risk communication and environmental
health consulting concern, the Environment and Health Research Director for
the Pacific Northwest Pollution Prevention Resource Center, and an Environmental
Science instructor at Bellevue Community College. He has practiced medicine
for over 20 years.
- Dr. Mary Ruckelshaus
is a marine scientist who works on salmon recovery efforts for the Conservation
Biology Division at the National Marine Fisheries Service (National Oceanic
and Atmospheric Association). She will be discussing recovery planning for
Pacific Salmon.
- Jeremy Smithson is a
Seattle designer/builder who will be speaking about Solar energy. Solar energy
was once a hobby of his but now he's the owner of Puget

- Mark Storey is an instructor
in the Philosophy Department at bellevue Community College.
- Margaret White is a naturalist
with the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle.
- Jay Zischke, a Fisheries
Biologist from the Suquamish Tribe, will be speaking about tribal fisheries
and endangered salmon.
He's a biologist for the Suquamish tribe and has done a lot of salmon/fisheries
