Earth Week Environmental Photo Contest

Update (April 25th): See the 40 entries submitted to the First Earth Week Environmental Photo Contest, posted on Flickr. Please post any comments you have about the images. We will look over the comments that have been posted and use them to help select the winning photo in about a week.

2007 Pie Eating ContestIn honor of Earth Week, SSA would like to promote the arts and the environment by hosting our first Earth Week Environmental Photo Contest. We will be accepting photos that highlight environmental themes, such as the natural world. biodiversity, water, consumption, pollution, and human interactions with nature. We invite everyone to enter your favorite "environmental" photo, or to go out and take a new one before the April 24th deadline. There might even be some good photo ops during Earth Week itself!

The Rules:
Photos should highlight environmental themes, such as the natural world. biodiversity, water, consumption, pollution, and human interactions with nature. We would like to keep the "theme" as open as possible to encourage creativity!

Photos should be original, taken by the contest entrant. Entrants must be BCC students or employees (or at least have been a BCC student or employee in the past 1 year). Limit of three photos per entrant.

Deadline: 11:59 PM, Friday, April 24 (11:59 PM for digital submissions, 5:00 PM for prints)

Where to Send your Entry:
Digital entries can be sent to Rob Viens at rviens@bellevuecollege.edu (be sure to write "Earth Week Photo Contest Entry" in the subject line so that it is not lost in the email spam filter). Low resolution images (noticeably fuzzy) may not be considered by the judges.

Print entries should by 5x7 and can be dropped of at the BCC Science Division (L200) in an envelope marked "Earth Week Photo Contest Entry - Attn: Rob Viens".

For both digital and print entries you must include contact information (name, email, phone number) and a title and brief description of the photo.

Prize:
A grand prize will be awarded to the winning photo (a $50 gift certificate to Amazon.com), which will chosen by SSA members and announced the week of April 27th. (Prize details will be posted soon.)

Ownership:
All entries remain the property of the photographer, however, SSA is given permission to display digital photos on the Earth Week web site and prints during Earth Week/SSA Events.

Have fun!
