President Michelle Atcheson I am pursuing a double major in astronomy and photography. After I leave BCC, I will probably transfer to UW. I like to travel and read. I also enjoy going to the museum, movies, theater, ballet, concerts, etc. I like arts and crafts and I enjoy decorating my house for holidays. ~ Vice President Tiffany H I'm an Env. Studies major, considering a possible double major with marine biology, minoring in education and working towards a transfer degree to WWU. When I transfer to Western I hope to do a study abroad for one quarter in Costa Rica. Eventually I hope to end up working as a research scientist in the Amazon Rainforest, studying the forest's canopy and specializing in amphibians. I'am involved in all kinds of activies here at BCC. I'm not only a member of the Science club, but also a member of AFA (Action for Animals). Volunteer work is also one of my favorite activities. This past summer I was a beach naturalist for the Seattle Aquarium/King Co, which was a total blast, I highly recommend it to anyone who's interested. In the past I have also enjoyed participating in outreach programs with local elementary schools and this past summer I joined several excellent instructors to participate in BCC's Science summer camp for kids. Currently I'm receiving training from the Seattle Aquarium/King Co/Army corp. of Engineers/City of Renton to be a Cedar River naturalist. I'm also a salmon watcher for the city of Bellevue. This is my third year here at BCC, and as eager as I am to move to Bellingham I have to admit that there's no other school where I'd rather be getting my transfer degree. BCC is a great campus that has an excellent staff, especially the instructors in the Math/Science Division. I encourage everyone to get more involved in campus activities. Join the Science club and help support "Earth Week" this spring. It is well worth the time spent because you know that you're going to have a good time. It's also a great opportunity to meet other people, and let's not forget how great it looks on your college transcript. ~ Vice President Missy Lacy I joined the Science Club in February 2002 and have enjoyed the experience. Being a member has allowed me to share my opinions, interests, and concerns related to science. It has also provided an opportunity to expand my knowledge of and involvemnent in my community and its influence of the natural world. I am a biology major, with the intent of getting a degree in marine biology. I worked for over a year as a research assistant student intern with the Northwest Fisheries Science Center. Volunteer work is also an important part of my education. In addition to being a Salmon Watcher for the city of Bellevue for the past two years, I am also a Beach Naturalist at Alki Beach over the summer, and have begun photomonitoring of the Kelsey Creek wetland. I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting! ~ Members Linda Howard, Teresa Chung, Andy King Webmaster: contactmissy@netscape.net |
